White label vs turnkey: which is right for you
How white label and turnkey casino solutions differ on licensing, cost, control and speed, and how to choose between them.

If you are planning a casino or sportsbook brand, you will quickly meet two terms, white label and turnkey. Both give you a complete platform. The difference is who holds the licence and who runs the business day to day.
Choosing the right model early saves time and money. This guide explains how each one works and which kinds of operators each one suits.
What is a white label casino?
With a white label solution, your brand runs under your provider’s gaming licence. The provider supplies and operates the platform, the games, the payments and the compliance work. You supply the brand, the marketing and the players.
In practice that usually means the provider handles:
- The licence and regulatory reporting
- KYC and anti-money laundering checks
- Payment processing and withdrawals
- Player support under your brand
- Hosting, security and platform updates
You focus on what drives revenue. That means your brand, your audience, your promotions and your growth.
What is a turnkey casino?
With a turnkey solution, you hold your own gaming licence. The provider supplies the same platform, content and back office, but you run operations. You sign your own payment agreements, manage your own compliance team and set up your own player support.
Turnkey gives you more control over the business and a direct relationship with your regulator. It also means more responsibility and more upfront investment.
The key differences
Licensing. White label brands launch under the provider’s licence, so there is no licence application on your side. Turnkey operators must obtain and maintain their own licence, which takes time and carries ongoing fees.
Speed. White label is the faster route. Most brands can launch in a matter of weeks. Turnkey timelines depend on your licence, your payment agreements and your integrations, and usually run for several months.
Upfront cost. White label needs less capital at the start because the licence and operations are shared. Turnkey has higher setup costs, including licensing, legal work and staff.
Control. Turnkey gives you full control over operations, payment partners and compliance decisions. White label gives you control over your brand, design, promotions and marketing, while the provider runs operations to a common standard.
Economics. White label is usually priced as a revenue share, because the provider carries more of the operating cost. Turnkey commercial models vary, and the operator keeps more of the margin in exchange for running the business.
Which model suits you?
White label is usually the right choice if you:
- Are launching your first casino brand
- Have an audience already, for example as an affiliate, streamer or media brand
- Want to test a market before committing to a licence
- Prefer to focus on marketing rather than operations
Turnkey is usually the right choice if you:
- Already hold a gaming licence, or plan to get one
- Have an experienced operations, payments and compliance team
- Want direct relationships with regulators and payment providers
- Are building a long-term business at scale in regulated markets
Can you move from one to the other?
Yes. Many operators start on white label to build their brand and player base, then move to turnkey once they have the scale and team to run operations themselves. If you plan to make that move, choose a provider whose white label and turnkey solutions run on the same platform. Your players, games and back office then stay the same while the licence and operations change around them.
Questions to ask any provider
Whichever model you choose, ask these questions before you sign.
- How long does a typical launch take, and what can slow it down?
- Which markets can you support today?
- Which payment methods are available in my markets?
- Who handles KYC, payments and player support?
- What reporting will I see, and how often?
- What happens to my brand and players if I leave?
